FactSpace Website Redesign — A credible home for West Africa's fact-checkers

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT

FactSpace West Africa was doing serious work across five countries, but its website didn't show the credibility, editorial independence or reach behind it.

TARGET USERS

  • Readers across Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia

  • partners and funders

THE GOAL

Make the organisation's independence, IFCN verification and country coverage obvious at a glance.

MY PROCESS

  1. Content audit
  2. IA
  3. wireframes
  4. UI
  5. prototype

KEY DECISIONS

  1. Fact-checks organised by country, not only by date
  2. Every verdict page shows claim, sources and research
  3. Partner and IFCN credibility surfaced on the homepage

THE SOLUTION

A structured editorial platform: a latest-fact-checks carousel, country-specific coverage, partner highlights, and dedicated Fact Checks, Disinfo Lab, mission and team sections. Verdict pages show the claim, sources and research trail.

KEY FEATURES

  1. Latest fact-checks carousel
  2. Country-based browsing
  3. Full verdict pages
  4. Disinfo Lab section
  5. Partner & team pages

DESIGN SYSTEM & ACCESSIBILITY

Editorial type scale with a fixed claim → sources → verdict hierarchy on every fact-check. Verdict labels carry text as well as colour, so a ruling never depends on red-or-green alone.

OUTCOME

A site that reads as an institution rather than a blog, with transparency built into the page structure.

BY THE NUMBERS

A 20-screen editorial platform covering 5 countries

What I learned

For a fact-checking brand, showing your sources is the design.
