Siastes – Mobile app: Fintech careers, news and community for underrepresented talent

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT

  • Siastes is a social fintech jobs platform, founded in 2025 with a head office in Dubai and teams in Canada and Ghana, connecting the fintech industry with talent in Africa.
  • Fintech professionals in the region found roles on general job boards, followed the industry on social feeds and networked in group chats: three places for one career.
  • The client wanted employers and job seekers in the same app, with dark mode as a first-class option, on an express four-week timeline.

TARGET USERS

  • Job seekers: fintech and crypto professionals, deciding on pay, location, work mode and the skills a role asks for

  • Employers and recruiters: listing jobs and reviewing applications, deciding who to reply to

  • Industry followers: reading and posting fintech news, deciding who to follow

THE GOAL

Put jobs, industry news and community in one app, so a fintech career in Africa doesn't need three different places.

KEY DECISIONS

  1. One home feed that mixes jobs for you, motivation videos and the latest news, rather than three separate tabs
  2. The same job card everywhere: level, pay, location, work mode, dates and skill tags, so roles compare at a glance
  3. A centre '+' that creates any of three things: a job listing, a news post or a motivation video
  4. Two ways to apply: with a built-in Siastes résumé or an uploaded one
  5. Dark mode designed screen by screen, not inverted, from a shared palette

THE SOLUTION

  • Jobs: filters for type, location, date, experience and salary; job detail as a sheet with 'Save for later' and 'Proceed to Apply'.
  • My Jobs: sent and received applications, messages, résumé and your own listings in one place, for both job seekers and employers.
  • News and community: Explore with fintech categories and a crypto prices tab, comments, followers, chat and community inboxes.
  • Creation and help: a three-step 'List a Job' wizard, news and motivation posts, and a floating Siastes AI assistant on every main screen.

DESIGN SYSTEM & ACCESSIBILITY

  • A documented style guide: purple primary #604FA0, secondary #9B79F7, a deep #28255C dark surface, and a Neue Haas Grotesk type scale from 10 to 28 px.
  • Dark mode uses a dedicated dark palette: white on #28255C reaches 14:1, so long-form news stays comfortable at night.
  • Next round: white text on the lighter #9B79F7 is 3.3:1 and green skill tags on pale green are around 2:1, so both need darker values.

OUTCOME

  • Jobs, news and community delivered as one product, in both themes, inside an express four-week timeline.
  • Employers and job seekers share one app: the same My Jobs space shows sent applications to one and received ones to the other.
  • The design system and app screens became the base for the Siastes marketing website.

What I learned

Building the theme palette before the screens saved doubling the work later.
